Scarlett Johansson was one of six entertainers headlining the early December USO Chairman's Holiday Tour. I followed the tour for the USO, chronicling why the entertainers felt it was important to visit troops in the Middle East who were going to be away from their families for the holidays.

But the painting, sculpting and creating seems to help. The USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, features an Art Studio that’s just for recovering service members, many of whom are assigned to the hospital on base. Inside, USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore art therapist Ashy Palliparambil leads a unique program that has turned into a creative sanctuary for service members who want to work out their emotions or just need a break from the grind of doctor's appointments.
